Thank you for a great Massachusetts White Ribbon Day!We held our annual Governor's Proclamation Event at the State House on March 6, 2014. It was a proud day for Massachusetts as we stood together to pledge our commitment in helping to end violence against women. More than 450 people attened, one our largest audiences! You too can become involved. We’re taking our cue from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that speaks to how violence against women is a human rights violation and how these abuses around the world are obstacles to efforts for peace and gender equality in all societies. In addition, we link importantly with The United Nations Secretary General’s new campaign UNited to End Violence Against Women, which is celebrated on International Women's Day, March 8th. JDI invites you to sign on as a White Ribbon Day Ambassador and participate in local activities across Massachusetts. You can show your support by encouraging others in your organizations, families, and workplaces to wear a white ribbon, place a poster up at their workplaces, spread the word about the campaign and its aims, organize local events to speak out against violence towards women, and challenge attitudes and behaviors which condone or tolerate violence. On this website, you can find out about the history of the White Ribbon Campaign, what this pledge means around the world and how you can get involved, including tool kits for planning local events. We also urge you to learn more about sexual assault and domestic violence. You can find information, facts and more on the Jane Doe Inc. website.
